We are excited to announce an open call for artists to submit artworks inspired by the Art Deco movement.

The show

Gamma will be hosting a week-long Bitcoin art show during Art Basel Miami, at the Sagamore hotel, Miami's original art hotel.

The hotel's event lineup includes our very own, first-ever Bitcoin Ordinals event during Miami Art Basel.

Our 7 day show will be presented on an immersive, 100 sq ft LED wall, curved around the natural architecture within the Sagamore South Beach lobby. Just two blocks from Art Basel, it will be seen by thousands of art collectors, hotel guests, and event attendees.

Apply for the Open Call

If you're new to art on Bitcoin, learn about Bitcoin Ordinals Inscriptions over here.

Create your Art Deco inspired artwork (it can of course still remain in your signature style). We'd like to pay homage to this movement as we begin a new one: the digital art movement preserving works on Bitcoin.

While submissions don't need to be existing inscriptions, it should be suited to Bitcoin as a medium. As such, file sizes should remain below 360kb (consider webp compression!)

Submit your piece and details to the form below by Nov 25th. If your inscription or artwork is a generative artwork, please submit an .mp4 recording as your submission file so it can be displayed exactly as you intend it.

On or before Nov 28th, the selections will be announced and prepared to be showcased on Dec 4th-10th at Sagamore South Beach, during Miami Art Basel. All selected artists will be invited to a private networking social and after party at the Sagamore on Dec 7th, 6pm-12am.

If your submission is an existing inscription, your piece will be added to a collection on Gamma, showcased on our homepage during Miami Art Week. You may list your works for sale or for auction during or following Miami Art Week if you choose to!

If you're a member of our Gamma Partner Program, your submissions will be automatically accepted for display during the show — we invite you to participate! But of course, our call is open to all artists regardless of their status as Partner Artists.

Art Deco in Miami

Art Deco is a prominent artistic and design style of the 1920s and 1930s, known for its floral ornamentation, geometric shapes, and feeling of opulence.

After a hurricane in 1926, Miami had to rebuild, and experienced significant growth and development, resulting in the construction and design of numerous buildings. The architects of the time imagined a new city and built hundreds of hotels to accommodate tourists wishing to enjoy the beautiful beaches and sunshine of Miami Beach. They imposed the Tropical Art Deco style that has become the city's signature.

Take a stroll through the Art Deco district and Ocean Drive, and you'll discover buildings in pastel colors and different shapes, and take a good look at the building facades! You'll find a variety of typical Miami motifs: palm trees, waves, seahorses and starfish. Each building has its own personality, so keep your eyes open!
