Meet ikiddo
Meet, ikiddo, who has carved a distinctive space in the world of generative art, blending algorithmic experimentation with a passion for creative expression. With a background in web design and graphic arts, it was only three years ago that ikiddo discovered the boundless potential of generative art. What drew him in wasn’t just the technology—but the freedom. From abstract to nature-inspired designs, he embraced the medium as a way to explore and reinvent constantly. For ikiddo, generative art represents more than aesthetics—it’s about providing a fresh perspective and championing a new creative frontier.
Variation
ikiddo’s approach to digital art centers around variation. Each mint, in his view, should be a singular, personal expression. “My constant effort has always been to create works whose variations are significantly different from one another,” he explains, ensuring that each collector receives something entirely unique. This philosophy reflects both a respect for the medium and a deep care for the viewer's experience.
BTC Felt Different
While many digital artists find a home on Ethereum or Tezos, ikiddo’s transition to Bitcoin Ordinals brought something different—something refreshing. The process of minting on Bitcoin stood out to him, particularly the discovery of rare sats, a concept unique to the Bitcoin ecosystem. But it wasn’t just the mechanics that hooked him—it was the people. “The Bitcoin collector community feels like a family; they truly look out for one another,” he says.
Yarn, Loops & Sketches
So far, ikiddo has released three notable works on Bitcoin Ordinals: Yarn Dynamic, Algomotion, and Core Rect. Yarn Dynamic draws inspiration from the structure of yarn spinning, expressing motion and texture through lines. Algomotion is focused on looped animation, pushing the boundary of generative visuals in motion. Core Rect, his latest, sketches minimalist abstract spaces, each variation uniquely crafted to feel like a coded sketch. These works reflect ikiddo’s evolution as both a creative and a coder, with each piece emphasizing conceptual storytelling through shape, form, and animation.
Roots in Design
While many generative artists come from traditional fine arts, ikiddo’s roots are in graphic design. “To be honest, my only background has been in graphic design, which helped me become familiar with color composition,” he shares. JavaScript—the coding language that now powers his art—only entered his life three years ago. Despite that, he has rapidly developed his own visual language by blending design sensibility with algorithmic logic.
Expansion
Over the past three years, ikiddo has met countless artists who share a common goal: to expand the NFT art space. Though he acknowledges the current market can feel “a bit weak,” he remains hopeful. “The minting of NFTs like OCM by Steph Curry was a positive step,” he says, noting how influential moments can help shift perception and bring more visibility to digital art on Bitcoin.
New Aesthetics
When it comes to artistic inspiration, two names stand out for ikiddo. Phlins, known for imaginative and sketchy works, and Zancan, whose algorithmic landscapes introduced an entirely new aesthetic to the space. “I'm particularly fascinated by the algorithmic approach he uses in his work,” ikiddo adds. Though influenced by others, he remains focused on originality, often inspired more by ideas and execution than specific styles.
The Search
As generative art has become part of his daily life, ikiddo finds creative sparks everywhere. “Even in my daily activities, I find myself searching for patterns and algorithms that I can translate into code,” he explains. From waterfalls to light reflections, the world becomes a canvas for generative interpretation. Through this lens, coding has deepened his appreciation for the natural world—and transformed how he sees beauty.
A Hybrid Approach
Looking ahead, ikiddo is exploring ways to bridge the gap between digital and physical art. Inspired by projects like Shaderism’s 3D prints and the design of OCM hats, he envisions collector experiences that include both NFTs and tangible art objects. This hybrid approach excites him as a new evolution in digital storytelling and value.
Create for Meaning, Not Markets
For those entering the world of NFTs and digital art, ikiddo offers this advice: “Approach it as an art form, and commit to it for the sake of art itself and its deeper meaning.” Focusing solely on financial gain can lead to burnout and disappointment. Art, especially on the blockchain, takes time, patience, and belief. The journey may be long, but for those who create with purpose, the rewards are more than monetary.
